Taster Lunch

My Reflection

To celebrate world peace day, the year six's had a massive taster lunch. We had to bring either something representing our culture or a family favourite. I brought in Pavlova. My favourite food was the custard pie.

Literacy Day

My Reflection

On Tuesday the 9 of September our class buddied up with room 27 so we could teach them how to make monster bookmarks for literacy week. I thought it was quite fun to be able to teach somone. My favourite part of making the bookmarks was that you could be creative and make what you wanted.
Somthing I think would have it made more fun was if we could of done somthing other than a monster. The finished result looks like this....

Basic Facts Progress Graph

Term 2 Reflection

This is my basic facts graph. I enjoy doing the basic facts test and seeing where I can improve. The times I haven't achieved one hundred was because of tiredness. I will try and improve where I am weaker and try to get more sleep.

Term 3 reflection

I am very pleased with the scores I am getting. I have been getting a lot better times than I used to. I still need to become better at working under pressure. My goal for term four is to be able to complete the test in under three minutes and fifteen seconds.

Camp MERC Persuasive Poster

My Reflection

In this piece of work, I was learning some of the persuasive features of a poster. I used: A rhetorical question, sub headings, descriptive words, some bossy verbs, not to much but enough detail and bold eye catching words.

My Simple Coding

This Digikids session we learned the basics of coding and programming. We had to drag blocks together to tell the bird/zombie what actions to do. You had to get the zombie to the sunflower.

My Mathletics Work

Reflection

I have been learning to add and subtract fractions. I have found it tricky to solve subtraction problem when the second fraction is bigger than the first. I used my knowledge of converting whole numbers into fractions to help me make the first fraction bigger than the second. I would next like to improve all of general knowledge and try problems a fair bit harder.

Rangitoto Landscape Art

My Reflection
When I was painting this I was learning to try different styles of panting which were tonal modelling, drag, stipple and card print. I found it tricky to get the right paint quantities when doing the drag as I ran out of paint. I found it hard to get the right colour when I was doing the card print as I didn't understand how to get them to work. I am proud of the drag over the rest because I like how it has turned out.

Fraction Jigsaw Maths Problem

My reflection
To solve this maths puzzle I had to know: Equivalent fractions and how to add subtract and multiply fractions.  I found this problem quite easy because I am really good with my fractions.

Solution
I started by figuring out where the corners went and then I worked on the sides.  After I had done the sides there was only nine middle pieces left so I just looked for matches.

Nasa Plans A Trip To Jupiter

MY REFLECTION

In this piece of work I had to go on to Kiwi Kids news and find an article I liked and write a summary about it. We had to give a good amount of information in a short time because each photo can only record for about forty seconds. I found the recording to be hard because it was very noisy and I kept on been interrupted. I chose this story because I thought it was quite interesting because NASA is planning a trip to a hot dangerous gassy planet.

Which Scripts? Nrich

In this work we were trying to sort out numbers into language groups.
The languages were: English, Persian, Chinese, Gurmukhi and Bengali.
The numbers were: 13, 83, 2, 58, 25 and 100.
The aim of this game was to write 51 in all of these languages.
Our group found this to be tricky at first but after that it all fell into place.
The reason we found it easy was because we could make the connection between the numbers and their values.

Camp MERC archery

My camp reflection.
My favourite part of camp was archery.
I enjoyed the focusing and aiming in it.
I was really scared of the tree climbing because I am scared of heights and the tree is 30 meters tall.
I didn't really like the food because the roast vegetables were dried out.
Even though I didn't like the food I had a great experience.

Camp MERC certificate

At camp I am proud of of overcoming my fears because I am terrified of heights and I climbed a thirty meter tall tree, I am proud of taking risks and trying new things and I am proud of making two giant Sandcastles (cat castle and kitten kingdom) with my friends.

Number Talks- addition of decimals

I found this work very easy because it is units and decimals. Next time I would like to try a 5 digit number problems. The strategy I found best for this problem was place value and compensating. I found popplet to be quite fun because its like making a little brainstorm.

My Kenning's poem

My Kenning's poem reflection.
I found writing the Kenning's poem fun because it was describing myself in a different way. I didn't like how it was very busy and I was running around helping people. I thought it was interesting that the poem was different to other poems. Next time I will try to think of better ideas and faster.
